Welcome to The Original Clifton Pub
This traditional coaching inn situated between High Street and Wesley Place, was once a staging post for horse drawn coaches on the Bristol-to-Gloucester Road. During the winter months it’s warm and cosy inside, with a real open fire, mulled wine and cider, a selection of board games and a pub piano. Outside, there’s a large newly decked patio overlooking Highland square. We serve a number of real ales - Tribute, Courage Best and Doombar as well as regularly changing guest ales - and traditional Old Rosie cider (7.2%). We also pride ourselves on our home-cooked food, excellent coffee and friendly team. We cater for party bookings, buffets and student socials etc.
We’re also home to Sneyd Park AFC, The Easter Garden, and Clifton Chilli Club as well as other student societies and local sports teams - so there’s always something interesting going on! The Coach and Horses maintains a lively atmosphere all through the week - come in on Tuesday evening to hear an Irish folk band practise, on Wednesday to hear our legendary quizmaster Eddie conduct our popular quiz (with free hotdogs for all participating teams and cash prizes for the winners) or come and try our Sunday roasts.
